Science meets art: DATA POETICS / DATA POLITICS
A cooperative event by: WittenLab. Zukunftslabor Studium Fundamentale at Witten/Herdecke University, Büro & Netzwerk für Medienkunst und Digitale Kultur MEDIENWERK.NRW and Fraunhofer ISST.

Data has long since become the raw material of social environments; this naturally includes our economic activities and simultaneously designates alternative economies (e.g. attention and platform economies). Based on everyday situations, we would like to shed light on what data does to us and how implication-rich the changes can be about the world and self-perception. Beyond the influential 'Big Tech', the (political) question of data sovereignty also arises. What perspectives and solutions can media art and art-based research offer in dealing with data & AI?

Art and humanities scholars will meet media artists and practitioners at this event. They invite you to inspiring lectures, discussions and workshops.

With contributions by Prof. Paul Feigelfeld, !Mediengruppe BITNIK, Audrey Samson (Goldsmiths College, University of London, FRAUD collective), Prof. Sven Meister, Prof. Matthias Kettner, Prof. Kerrin Jacobs, Dr. Jonathan Harth, and more. Evening program (from 6 pm): We look forward to a keynote speech by internationally renowned AI policy advisor Dr. Gemma Galdon-Clavell.

Conditions of participation and registration: The event is free of charge and open to the interested public. Registration is requested: data@uni-wh.de.
UW/H students (applies in particular to seminars with Prof. Meister and Prof. Jacobs) are invited to participate actively in the event and the afternoon workshops.
