Whether for internships - regardless of the industry or position -, as a potential founder or even just for accounting for the shared flat: an advanced basic knowledge of Microsoft's spreadsheet software is indispensable nowadays and can save you a lot of work if used correctly.
The courses are aimed at all UW/H students. The prerequisite for participation is your own laptop with an installed Excel version (from 2010). However, we recommend getting the latest Excel version. Every student can download this free of charge at www.office.com.
Only students who can attend one of the dates without interruption will be admitted to the course.
Registration deadline: Interested students can register for the basic course via the Career Service until October 29, 2025. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis; a maximum of 20 people per event will be admitted.
If you have already completed a basic course or attended the basic course on November 8, 2025, you can register for the advanced course on November 29, 2025 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Course participants will deal with the following basic content in a practical way and on their own laptop:
- The user interface, general basics of Excel 2016
- Entering, editing, organizing and formatting tables
- Formulas and functions in various tasks
- Logical functions: And, Or, If
- Matrix functions: Sreference and Wreference
- Mathematical and statistical functions: Sum if, count if etc.
- Date functions etc.
The prerequisite for participation is your own laptop with an installed Excel version (from 2010). However, it is advisable to obtain the latest Excel version. This can be downloaded free of charge by any student.
