Excel Course: Advanced Level, Fall Semester 2026/27

Whether for internships—regardless of the industry or position—as a prospective entrepreneur, or even just to manage the shared apartment budget, a solid foundation in Microsoft’s spreadsheet software is essential these days and can save you a lot of work when used correctly. After completing the basic course and mastering the fundamentals, participants can further develop their Excel skills in this advanced course—with hands-on exercises on their own laptops.

Course Details: Advanced Topics:

  • Special Functions in Excel
  • Calculating maximum and minimum values using Go To Value and Solver
  • Interest calculation
  • Linking worksheets and files
  • Merging worksheets/workbooks
  • Advanced array formulas
  • Pivot Tables (Formatting and Analyzing Pivot Data)
  • Creating a Project Plan/Schedule Using the Gantt Chart (Bar Chart)
  • Excel Charts: An Overview of Chart Types

Course content is learned through hands-on work with practical examples by course participants on their own laptops.

The course is open to all UW/H students. To participate, you must have your own laptop with a version of Excel (2010 or later) installed. However, we recommend obtaining the latest version of Excel. Every student can download it for free at www.office.com.

Only students who can attend one of the sessions without interruption will be admitted to the course.

The course is held in person. A maximum of 20 participants will be admitted. Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration is required. The registration deadline for the advanced course is November 18, 2026.
