Research
Research at the Faculty of Health aims to understand and solve the complex problems of modern healthcare. On the following page, researchers at the Faculty can find information on good scientific practice, research funding opportunities and contact persons.
Good scientific practice
At the Faculty of Health, we follow the DFG's guidelines for good scientific practice. Honesty and the principles of good scientific practice are indispensable prerequisites for all work that strives for knowledge and should be respected by the public. If you have any questions, please contact the ombudspersons.
Further information on good scientific practice at our university can be found in the UW/H-specific implementation and procedural regulations.
Internal Faculty Research Funding (IFF)
The internal research funding of the Faculty of Health supports qualified research projects of young scientists with personnel and material, the acquisition of third-party funds for joint projects and young scientists with the PhD program Biomedicine. You can find more information on the individual offers below:
The Faculty of Health supports early career researchers from all departments with its internal research funding program. Each year, they can apply for funding for research projects in a competitive process. The options range from rotational positions for clinicians, who can work in basic, clinical or healthcare research for the duration of their project, to material and personnel resources for research projects that are carried out as preliminary or pilot studies for later externally funded projects.
A key objective for research at the Faculty of Health is the successful acquisition of collaborative projects. Acquiring such collaborative projects usually involves a great deal of effort. The funding format "IFF Collaborative Projects" supports selected consortia at the UW/H financially and in terms of personnel when applying for collaborative projects.
Funding is provided for applications to funding bodies such as the BMBF, the DFG or the EU. A funded consortium should consist of at least three project leaders employed at the UW/H (optionally supplemented by external cooperation partners).
Are you interested and do you have competent partners? Then apply for support! The detailed requirements and submission deadline can be found in the call guidelines and application form below.

In order to support cross-faculty exchange and cooperation between the disciplines, UW/H regularly hosts the university-wide "Research Day", where scientists present their topics and projects to the university community - as poster presentations, in workshops or science slams. The "Research Day at the Faculty of Health" focuses on research projects from human medicine, dentistry, psychology and nursing science.
A complete overview of funding opportunities, objectives and ideas can also be found in the presentation.
Research funding at Witten/Herdecke University
In addition to internal research funding, the UW/H Research Funding Department is available to advise researchers at any time: Among other things, employees provide support in acquiring and managing research projects; they provide information on national and international calls for proposals or advise on individual funding opportunities.
