Staff telephone (Cisco 8841)

Using the phone

The phone works like a normal phone. However, making calls is easier. You can use your phone like any other phone to make calls.

Procedure
Enter a number and pick up the handset.

Use the loudspeaker for hands-free talking. Note that your colleagues can also hear your call.

Procedure

Step 1 Enter a number using the keypad.
Step 2 Press the loudspeaker icon.

Use your headset for calls so as not to disturb your colleagues and to protect your privacy.

Procedure

Step 1 Plug in a headset.
Step 2 Enter a number using the keypad.
Step 3 Press Headset.

Procedure

Step 1 Press the line key.
Step 2 (Optional) If there are multiple calls waiting, select an incoming call.

You can send an incoming call to your voicemail system (if configured) or to a predefined phone number. If this feature is not set up, the call will be rejected and the caller will hear a busy signal.

Procedure

To reject a call, do one of the following:

  • Press Reject.
  • If there are multiple incoming calls, highlight the incoming call and press Reject.

If you do not want to be disturbed, you can ignore an incoming call. The call will be forwarded to voicemail.

Procedure

To ignore a call, do one of the following:

  • Select Ignore.
  •  Press Volume to mute the incoming call and send it to voicemail or a specified phone number.

Use DND (Do Not Disturb) to turn off your phone's call signal and ignore incoming calls.

If you activate DND, incoming calls are forwarded to another number, for example to your voicemail (if configured).

When DND is activated, the colour of the headline area of the phone display changes and Do Not Disturb is shown.

When you activate DND, all lines on your phone are affected. However, intercom calls and emergency calls will still go through when DND is activated.

If MLPP (priority calling) is set up for your phone, priority calls will trigger a special ring tone on your phone even if DND is on.

Procedure

Step 1 Press Do Not Disturb to activate DND.

Step 2 Press Do Not Disturb again to deactivate DND.

If you handle calls together with a colleague, you can pick up a call that comes in on your colleague's phone. However, the administrator must first assign you to at least one call pick-up group.

You can answer a call that comes in on another phone within your call pick-up group. If more than one call can be picked up, pick up the first call received.

Procedure

Step 1 (Optional) Press the line key.

Step 2 Press Pickup to pick up an incoming call within your call pickup group on your phone.

Step 3 When you hear a ringing tone, press Answer to connect the call.

Group pick-up allows you to answer a call on a phone that is outside your call pick-up group. You can use the group pickup number or the number of the line on which the call is coming in to answer the call.

Procedure

Step 1 (Optional) Press the line key.
Step 2 Press Group Pickup.
Step 3 Do one of the following:

Enter the number of the telephone line on which the call you want to answer is located.

Step 2 Enter the destination number for call forwarding in the same way as on the phone or select an entry in the call list.
