Open Access (OA) publishing

The University of Witten/Herdecke is one of the DEAL institutions in Germany.

The DEAL project has enabled new contract models nationwide with the three major scientific publishers Elsevier, Springer Nature and Wiley. These contracts give universities, among other things, permanent access to all electronic journals (e-journals) of the respective provider. In addition, authors of the participating institutions receive the right to publish their latest research results directly and permanently under an open access license with the respective publisher.

DEAL-Wiley contract

The DEAL contract with the publisher Wiley has been in place since the beginning of 2019.

DEAL-Springer Nature contract

The DEAL contract with the publisher Springer Nature has been in place since the beginning of 2020.

DEAL-Elsevier contract

The DEAL contract with the publisher Elsevier has been in place since mid-2023.

Many publishers charge authors or their institutions publication fees for open access publications, so-called Article Processing Charges (APC).

The UW/H University Library has concluded framework agreements or consortium agreements with some publishers, through which a publication can be published at a reduced rate (special conditions).

General

  • Please check the current publishing agreements listed on this page before each publication.
  • The publishers usually carry out author identification.
  • The respective invoice goes directly to the authors (exception: see DEAL-Springer Nature / DEAL-Wiley).
