You are here:
Outlook on a notebook at the UW/H
You can use the Outlook client basically the same way as on the campus network of the university.
- Immediately after starting, you will see the information "Attempting to connect to Microsoft Exchange" in the bottom right corner. After a few seconds you will be asked to enter your password, unlike on the university network.
- Please enter your user name uwh\<your Windows user name> and the corresponding password.
- It may take about 30 seconds until Outlook is connected to the server and you can work as usual.
- Even if you have no connection to the Internet at all, you can work with Outlook in a limited way by canceling the password entry dialog, because Outlook always works in "cache" mode at UWH, i.e. Outlook always creates a local copy of your entire mailbox, which is updated every time you contact the server. If you write a new mail or reply to a mail in this status separated from the server, the new mail is first stored in the outbox. The next time you successfully connect to the server, the mails in the outbox will be sent automatically. This procedure is also recommended to keep possible connection costs low.
