The Faculty of Health at UW/H actively addresses demographic change, new technologies, diversity and inclusion - with practice-oriented teaching and interdisciplinary research. Together, we are shaping modern healthcare in medicine, dentistry, psychology and nursing and shaping the healthcare professions of the future.

When selecting our students, reflectiveness and empathy are just as important to us as motivation. We prepare our students for everyday medical practice right from the start with problem-oriented, case-based learning in small groups.

People and health are at the center of scientific activities at our faculty. In order to understand and solve the complex problems of modern healthcare, we want to enable integrative and personalized/person-centered healthcare with our research.

Medicine, dentistry and psychotherapy at Witten/Herdecke University do not only take place in teaching and research. We also apply our knowledge and current findings in practice in our three outpatient clinics.

The faculty is managed by the dean and the dean as well as the commercial director. The Dean's duties include planning the Faculty's development and organizing teaching and research. The Commercial Director is responsible for the economic affairs of the faculty. The Vice Dean for Research and the Vice Dean for Teaching support the management of the faculty and also take on areas of responsibility that they manage independently. Together they form the Executive Board.

The extended board also includes the heads of the departments and the coordinators for teaching and research at the two university hospitals Krankenhaus Köln-Merheim and Helios Universitätsklinikum Wuppertal. They support the Dean in the management of the Faculty.

The Dean's Office is the central administrative unit of the faculty and is responsible for coordination and organization.
