"To want to become effective means to be able to prepare oneself for the demands of destiny. It requires grasping and placing oneself in the moment. Active efficacy requires intense listening to the language of destiny, complete surrender."
How to design a hospital that is fully oriented to humanity? How can scientific paths be developed that embrace human individuality? What does a course of study that counts on the students' will to shape look like? How is a jointly responsible activity possible?
These questions occupied PD Dr. med. Gerhard Kienle (1923-1983) and with him many comrades-in-arms, who together with him founded the Herdecke Community Hospital in 1969 and the University of Witten/Herdecke in 1983.
On the occasion of his 100th birthday, these questions will be discussed again in a symposium from 17 to 19 November 23. Together with companions, scientists, students and innovators, the focus will be on the following current topics:
- Humans and AI
- Sources of becoming healthy
- In which social forms do we want to shape medicine in the future?
- The importance of anthroposophy for the future of medicine
- Starting points for an ecological medicine
