Field time - Can you propagate seeds yourself?

Time
Location In the field at the end of Alfred-Herrhausen-Straße
Organizer Projekt Feldversuch

How can you propagate seeds yourself? Which varieties are suitable? Let's try it out!

During this lunch break in the fresh air, participants can experience first-hand the connections between agriculture, intact ecosystems and their lunch.

Employees and students are invited to get to know the gardens for the community and the field trial on Tuesdays from 12:00 - 13:00.

Each date has a thematic focus and gives you interesting insights into the cultivation, care and processing of vegetables and herbs. Depending on where a helping hand is needed, those interested can become active in the field, in the herb spiral and on the vegetable plot. True to the motto: "Experience, help shape", there is the opportunity to experience the 2026 growing season from seed to harvest and to actively help shape the site. From cultivation tips for your own vegetable garden to complex interactions between different ecosystems, everything is included. The aim is to learn through experience and have fun doing it.

The field time is part of the field trial project. The project combines organic regional agriculture with health promotion and sustainable community catering, and is practically implemented and researched here on campus.

Participants should bring appropriate clothing for the weather and sun protection if necessary.

Meeting point: Field trial field in the gardens for the community. At the end of Alfred-Herrhausen-Straße, follow the pedestrian path towards Christopherus-Hof, where the field is located on the left-hand side.

Participation is free of charge.
