This literary portrait serves as an introduction to the play "Yerma", which will be performed at the UW/H on April 19 and 20.
Garcia Lorca (1898-1936) was a Spanish lyricist and playwright, who renewed the theater with his plays. In "Yerma" (Infertility) he writes about the people of his childhood in Andalusia in the early 1930s. In this and his two other plays, "Blood Wedding" and "Bernarda Alba's House", he addresses the position of women in the rural population.
