In the second event of the university's public series "The Gaza Conflict in Context", Lena Obermaier will talk about her research on "Gaza's 'Great March of Return' (2018/2019)" and the current situation. Afterwards, John Massoud, student at UW/H and member of the group "Speak Up for Palestine", will conduct an interview with Ms. Obermaier. After the interview, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the topic with the speaker.

Personal details: Lena Obermaier is a PhD candidate in Palestine Studies at the University of Exeter and previously taught at the School for African and Oriental Studies (SOAS) in London. She has been the host of the German-language podcast "Parallelwelt Palästina" since April 2023. Together with Michael Sappir, her aim with the podcast is to provide factual information about the historical and political contexts in Israel and Palestine in an understandable way. This aim is also shared by "Speak Up for Palestine Witten", a group of students who want to contribute to a peaceful culture of debate on the topic at the UW/H.
