Prof. Dr. Petra Thürmann and Prof. Dr. Christian Karagiannidis were members of the Federal Government's Expert Council on Health and Resilience. Due to the premature end of the legislative period, the committee cannot continue its work. The Federal Chancellery would like to thank the Council for its tireless commitment.

In March 2024, the Council, made up of scientists from various disciplines, began its work and addressed the question of how the healthcare system and society can best tackle future health crises. The council published statements and advised the government.

As a university with a third mission, UW/H has the task of making its knowledge available to society - e.g. through impulses, process support, further education or advice. With Prof. Thürmann and Prof. Karagiannidis, two members of UW/H have taken on this social responsibility, worked on the Expert:innenrat and supported the government.

In its most recent statement, the Expert Council on Health and Resilience calls for a successor body to continue working on the major health policy challenges on a scientific basis.
