The UW/H Model United Nations Initiative is moving into its next phase—and is looking for students from all disciplines who are interested in joining the UW/H delegation at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) in New York.
What is Model United Nations?
At Model United Nations (MUN), you take on the role of a UN delegate and represent a country’s interests at an international conference. The program focuses on current political and social issues, but also helps you develop skills that will benefit you in your studies and beyond:
- Debating and public speaking
- Negotiation and diplomacy
- International cooperation
- Engaging with political and social issues
- Collaborative problem-solving
The NMUN conference will take place in New York in late March or early April 2027. There, you’ll meet students from universities around the world and experience a multi-day UN simulation in an international setting.
What can you expect?
Preparation at UW/H
Preparation takes place once a week on Thursdays as part of the Stufu program. You’ll be prepared for the conference step by step. No prior knowledge or MUN experience is required.
2–4 Credit Points
Participation can be recognized with 2–4 CP in the Stufu program.
Together to New York
As part of the UW/H delegation, you’ll travel together to the NMUN conference and experience international politics firsthand.
Skills for College and Beyond
You’ll practice, among other things, presenting, debating, negotiating, teamwork, and approaching complex topics in a structured way.
Who can participate?
All UW/H students—regardless of major or field of study.
Whether you’re studying Public Health, Medicine, Psychology, Management, or something entirely different: you don’t need any prior knowledge or MUN experience. Everything you need to know and be able to do for the conference will be covered together during the preparation phase.
What you should bring:
- An interest in international issues
- Openness to new topics and perspectives
- Motivation to work as part of a team
- A desire for an international experience

You can also meet the team in person at MdM and ask any questions you may have. An information session will also be held before regular preparation begins. There, you’ll learn everything about the project, the NMUN conference, the schedule, and the organizational details.
Stop by, learn more, and then take your time to decide whether MUN is right for you.
