Tag der Forschung 2023

A successful premiere!

The university-wide Research Day had its premiere on November 6 and was very well attended with well over 100 participants.

The two workshops "Possible applications of artificial intelligence in the research process" and "Digitization: The common denominator for a cross-faculty graduate college" facilitated interdisciplinary exchange and further strengthened the networking of doctoral students and professors. In the third workshop, "How do I perform a science slam?", national finalist and West German runner-up Prof. Kai Hensel showed how to approach a science slam or how to build on existing skills. The lunch break, which was accompanied by an invitation to view posters, also provided plenty of space to engage in cross-disciplinary conversation.

The beautiful conclusion of the day was the awards ceremony. The poster awards went to:

1st prize: "Say hello to my little friends! A yeast screen for molecular interactions." (Martin Smolnig, Jonas Heyden, Thorsten Meyer, Lisa Knebel, Florian Kreppel, Patrick Rockenfeller).

2nd prize: "Production of fiberless gene transfer vectors"(Daniel Pembaur, Claudia Hagedorn, Florian Kreppel)

3rd prize: "Effects of inhibitors of farnesyltransferase on mineralization in bone tumor cells"(Tim Bürgel, Daniel Diehl, Hagen S. Bachmann)

The prize for the best science slam was awarded to Victoria Brickau with "Characterization of fragrances and their effect on human skin cells in relation to wound healing".
