In municipal practice, it becomes apparent how preconditional the implementation of sustainable transformation approaches is. The challenges lie less on a technological level and less and less on an economic level.
Instead, the natural obstacles are political, institutional and cultural. This poses quite general challenges to further developing a modern democracy capable of transformation. In his contribution, Uwe Schneidewind outlines essential building blocks of the existing "system failure" and shows how interconnected experimental spaces can become "islands of success" for a sustainable transformation.
Uwe Schneidewind, Mayor of the City of Wuppertal and former President of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, will be a guest on this occasion. Together with him, we will explore the relationship between (academic) theory and (municipal) practice regarding Sustainable Transformation.
I wanted to inform you that interested parties are cordially invited to the subsequent exchange over light snacks.
