Our democracy in danger! Right-wing extremism in Germany.
2nd event with Prof. Dr. Daniel Bischof, University of Münster

Dear members of our university community,

the Presidium cordially invites you to the 2nd event in the series "Our democracy in danger! Right-wing extremism in Germany".

In his keynote speech, Prof. Bischof will explore the question of why radical right-wing parties are increasingly being elected in certain regions of Germany. He will discuss how old conflicts of state formation and regional characteristics shape the political climate of today and lead to a strengthening of the radical right in certain regions. The event will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Lukas Stötzer, political scientist and democracy researcher at the University of Witten/Herdecke.

About the speaker: Daniel Bischof is Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Münster and Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University (Denmark). His research aims to address issues that are relevant for both academic and public debate. In doing so, he examines some of the key challenges facing contemporary democracies, such as the rise of extremism, its social consequences, means of mitigating extremism and the general breakdown of social norms.

With this event, we would once again like to create space for scientifically sound discussions. It is aimed at all members of the university community, their relatives and interested members of the public. The event will be held in German.
