Political Violence and Democracy in Europe

Organized violence for political and criminal purposes is on the rise in Europe. This workshop will discuss the development and consequences of organized violence for democracy in four European countries (Denmark, Germany, Italy and Serbia).

Joining the insights from the European Research Council (ERC)-funded project DANGER with expertise from researchers, NGOs, and journalists across Europe highlights the challenges that contemporary democracies are facing. The workshop will feature presentations from each country and an open discussion for effective responses and the need for European networking.

Invited to the discussion are Milorad Ivanovic (Editor-in-chief, Balkan Investigative Reporting Network), Professor Helene Pedersen (Political Scientist, Aarhus University), Pierpaolo Romani (National Coordinator, Avviso Pubblico).
