Latest developments in management have shown that companies may actively define their own “purpose” in the economy and society at large, instead of merely responding to societal demands . It remains a challenge, however, to fully integrate a purpose orientation within a company’s strategic and organizational processes. Similar to prior concepts like Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Sustainability, management strives to make Corporate Purpose a real driver of strategy development.
This topic has been at the heart of Dr. Nicole Steller’s research in Witten, where she completed her PhD at the Reinhard Mohn Institute of Management (RMI) in 2025, and which she continues in her current role as Assistant Professor at ESCP Business School in Madrid, as featured in the UW/H Blog. Her work connects organizational culture, leadership and strategy with a special emphasis on the value-creating potential of Corporate Purpose.
