Women’s health is not just gynecology! Why is the “gender lens” useful in nearly all medical specialties? And how can patients and interested individuals integrate research findings into their daily lives or their healthcare?

In its strategy paper through 2034, the WHO has set the goal of consolidating integrative medicine in health care systems and furthering research in this area.

• What treatment approaches are available for providing holistic care to women?
• Which of these can be put into practice and applied directly at home?

The goal of the symposium is to raise awareness of women’s health and gender-specific aspects of health and to bring these topics out of the “science bubble” and into the public discourse. The symposium is also intended to provide a space for exchange, networking, and discussion among participants and speakers.

The symposium’s approach: practical, accessible, informative, and on an equal footing.

  • 10:00 a.m.: Opening remarks by Professor Ute Seeland, Gender-Specific Medicine at the University of Magdeburg and member of the Society for Gender-Specific Medicine
  • Series of presentations and panel discussion in the Audimax at Witten/Herdecke University
• April 10, 2027:
  • Practical workshops
  • Closing reflection in the form of a panel discussion.

The target audiences for this interprofessional symposium are interested members of the public, students from all disciplines, and university staff from all departments (from communications to home economics), as well as, of course, patients from Witten who are receiving treatment, for example, at the dental clinic or the various university outpatient clinics.
