MSD Health Award 2025: Voting for the Audience Award

We are nominated - your vote counts!

Great joy at the UW/H: A research project of the Vestische Kinder- und Jugendklinik - Universität Witten/Herdecke, other partners from the clinic and university as well as the health insurance companies TK and Barmer has been nominated for the MSD Health Award 2025 Audience Award!

The focus is on the MyBrainCity app - developed together with patients and guardians as part of the Feedb-App innovation fund project. It accompanies children and adolescents with chronic pain during and after inpatient therapy and supports them and their families in transferring what they have learned into everyday life. The app demonstrably improves treatment results - a real example of "Therapy in the Pocket".

Since 2011, the MSD Health Award has honored projects that sustainably improve patient care. From over 40 submissions, 10 projects were selected by an independent jury - including our MyBrainCity app.

In addition to the jury prizes, an audience prize will also be awarded - every vote counts.

Voting runs until October 6, 2025.

Background: Chronic pain in children and adolescents

Around 30% of children and young people in Germany suffer from chronic pain. This often has a major impact on everyday life and emotional well-being - and without effective treatment, it persists into adulthood. During inpatient pain therapy, those affected learn strategies to actively manage their pain. After discharge, independent implementation in everyday life is crucial - this is where the MyBrainCity app comes in. The app combines treatment content with individual feedback in four intensity levels and has been proven to improve treatment outcomes.
