An impressive 2,200 euros was raised from the raffle at the UW/H staff Christmas party. This party is traditionally organized by the university's trainees. "Never before have we sold so many raffle tickets and raised such a large amount," they say happily. Every year, they decide together which organization they would like to donate the raffle proceeds to. This time, they decided on Christopherus-Haus e. V. "After taking a closer look at the association's work, we were certain that we wanted to support it! We find the commitment of these facilities for people with disabilities very impressive," they continue.
On December 11, the UW/H trainees were able to hand over the donation to the Christopherus-Haus e. V. association. Gerrit Thüne-Valtin, Member of the Board, accepted the symbolic cheque and was very pleased - the donation recognizes and strengthens the work of the association.
About the association:
Christopherus-Haus has been supporting people with assistance needs since 1964 and today offers pre-school and school education as well as work and residential opportunities in a variety of curative education and social therapy facilities. From small beginnings, very special places have grown for around 1,300 very special people: an inclusive Waldorf day care center (in Dortmund), a children's and youth home (in Witten), two Waldorf special schools (in Bochum and Dortmund), three residential and living communities (in Bochum, Dortmund and Witten) and the Gottessegen workshops (Bochum and Dortmund). Christopherus-Haus also offers family support and socio-educational family assistance as outpatient services.
