UW/H has once again been recognized as a Fairtrade University. UW/H was already honored as the first Fairtrade University in the Ruhr region in 2021 - and this year it was able to successfully renew its title.
On campus, the cafeteria and Café Larix offer a wide range of fair trade products such as coffee, tea, lemonade and chocolate to ensure that fair trade is put into practice. Every single cup of coffee served here comes from fair trade. In addition, the topic of fair trade is actively integrated into events such as the campus rally at the start of the semester, organized by the Initiative Lab, as well as in courses for the Bachelor's degree in Global Sustainability.
Fairtrade activities at UW/H are coordinated by the Fairtrade Steering Group, which is made up of representatives from the Sustainability Networking Office, the Hochschulwerk and the Initiative Lab. Anyone who would like to contribute ideas or activities is welcome to become part of the group.
The UW/H sees itself as a social actor and driving force for sustainable social, ecological, cultural and economic development. As a Fairtrade University, it actively implements this responsibility and establishes fair trade at various levels in everyday university life. Fairtrade Germany supports the UW/H in this and honors its commitment with this new award.
