The election of the Works Council of Witten/Herdecke University gGmbH will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at several polling stations on campus; postal voting is also possible. 15 works council members will be elected.
At UW/H, lists rather than individuals are elected in the Works Council elections. In the works council election, employees then vote for one of the lists submitted. The votes cast in the election then determine how many seats each list receives on the Works Council. These are then filled in the order of the candidates on the list.
For example: if three lists stand and each receive around a third of the votes, five people from each list would be appointed to 15 seats on the works council - starting with the first-placed candidate on each list.
Employees currently still have the opportunity to submit their own lists of candidates to the election committee. To do so, the lists must be submitted by the deadline and supported by a sufficient number of employees entitled to vote.
Important now: Employees entitled to vote can submit lists of candidates.
Deadline: until March 23, 2026, 5:00 p.m.
Support: at least 50 signatures of employees entitled to vote
Content: Surname, first name, date of birth, occupation and written consent of the candidates
As many areas of the university as possible should be represented on each list.
Only persons who are on a list of candidates submitted by the deadline can be elected.
