Evaluation of courses in UWE

Course evaluation

Course evaluations are used to ensure and improve the quality and efficiency of individual courses at an academic institution. Their primary aim is to provide individual lecturers with constructive feedback on the teaching and learning success associated with their courses from the perspective of the participating students.

The faculties/departments or the WittenLab are responsible for the implementation.

What happens to the evaluation results?

If a course is held weekly by the same person, it makes sense to discuss the evaluation results with the students on the last day of the course.

Only the students who have evaluated the course themselves can view the evaluation results if the minimum number of responses (> 3) has been reached, irrespective of which all aggregated evaluation results are reported to the university management.

In addition, the faculty/department and WittenLab data are evaluated even more specifically in the respective areas. They can therefore have a direct influence on teaching planning and are usually discussed in management meetings.

For academics - especially in early career phases - the evaluation results are also an important component for future applications in higher education.
