Christmas concert at the UW/H

This year, the choir and orchestra welcomed Ursula von der Leyen as a special guest.

The Christmas concert by the UW/H choir and orchestra was once again a special highlight at the end of the year: On three evenings, University Music Director Ingo Ernst Reihl and more than 300 performers welcomed an enthusiastic audience to the performance of "Elijah", an oratorio by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. At the concert on Saturday, they were able to welcome a distinguished visitor, Ursula von der Leyen - she always enjoys coming to the UW/H and is not a guest in Witten for the first and hopefully not the last time.

"Not only in Germany, but throughout Europe and in our globalized world, we need every talent, every comrade-in-arms and every future leader to be able to cope with the complex tasks in politics, business and society. At Witten/Herdecke University and in discussions with many Witten students, I sense a great deal of energy and a willingness to make a great effort to participate in these future tasks and take on responsibility. That's exactly what we want!" - Ursula von der Leyen

We are happy to share some impressions of Saturday's concert with you and say goodbye to the Christmas break.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year,
