Under the overall direction of University Music Director Ingo Ernst Reihl, the Witten/Herdecke University choir and orchestra are once again inviting you to a major summer concert this summer. The program is varied and also includes the participation of actor Claus Dieter Clausnitzer.
Dvořák's life-affirming 8th Symphony opens the concert with sonorous expansiveness and pastoral luminosity. Music then enters into a dialog with words: in a new melodrama consisting of four movements of the "Messa per Rossini" initiated by Giuseppe Verdi, chamber actor Claus Dieter Clausnitzer guides the audience through the eventful history of a unique, exciting and collaborative requiem project in 19th century Italy.
The audience can expect a varied program consisting of the works of
- Antonín Dvořák: Symphony No. 8 in G major op. 88
- Antonio Buzzolla: Requiem e Kyrie
- Antonio Bazzini: Dies irae
- Carlo Coccia: Amen
- Pietro Platania: Sanctus, Benedictus e Hosanna
Admission costs €15. Free for pupils, students and refugees. Tickets are available at the box office.
