So far, the focus has been primarily on the social consequences of racism - because it is undisputed that unequal opportunities have an impact, for example, on education, work, mobility and housing. However, racism has equally direct multiple consequences for the health of those affected, which is increasingly being empirically proven (e.g. Lancet Series, Dec. 2022). What forms of racism are distinguished and which do people experience as particularly stressful - what consequences do they suffer? What is helpful for those affected and what can supporters in private, family or professional contexts do? Concepts such as micro- and macroaggressions, internalized racism, racism stress and racism fatigue, but also possibilities for action are to be made understandable in this lecture.
