The junge orchester NRW was founded in 1985 by the current Witten University Music Director Ingo Ernst Reihl. Two to three times a year, the young musicians meet for rehearsal periods lasting several days in order to work on large, demanding symphonic programs - under the supervision of renowned lecturers. The concerts take place regularly in the Philharmonie in Essen and in the Historische Stadthalle in Wuppertal, among other venues.Due to the pandemic, the work of this independent ensemble also had to be suspended for two and a half years. This summer, the junge orchester NRW returns to present two underrated masterpieces: Symphonies 2 and 3 by the worldly composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. For the occasion, Valentin Silvestrov's "Prayer for Ukraine" will be integrated into both works.
On this evening there is much to discover and to understand anew!
