In the research process, different versions of files are created over time, which must be well and comprehensibly documented for the purposes of sustainable research data management. In some cases, this can be done using GitLab: The open source software allows Git repositories to be hosted and managed. GitLab also offers additional functions such as issue tracking, wiki and code review.

In this digital workshop by fdm.nrw, the state initiative for research data management, and NFDI4Ing, participants will learn the basics of using Git and GitLab. The offer is open to UW/H members and is aimed in particular at employees in infrastructure facilities (e.g. library, BIT, research funding). The workshop serves as an introduction to the topic; little or no prior knowledge is required.
