2nd place of the DEGAM poster award goes to the IAMAG of the UW/H

At this year's German Congress of General Practice and Family Medicine (DEGAM) at Charité Berlin, the Institute of General Practice and Ambulatory Health Care (IAMAG) at Witten/Herdecke University celebrated another success alongside numerous other contributions. Second place in the poster prize went to medical student and employee Johanna Walter for her poster contribution on the very topical subject of "Communication between Ukrainian refugees and GPs in Germany: barriers and support factors from the refugees' perspective (RefUGe-P)" as part of her doctorate. In the RefUGe-P project (project team: Kristin Rolke, Johanna Walter, Dr. Judith Tillmann), interviews are conducted with Ukrainian refugees on their experiences in the German healthcare system and specifically with GP care. The project will be funded by the internal research funding of the Faculty of Health of the UWH/H in 2023.

The congress had almost 1,000 participants, there were over 350 congress contributions and 80 poster presentations on research projects. The jury awarded the best presentations and the three most relevant projects and topics for general practice with prize money and a certificate from DEGAM.

We are delighted to receive this special award and are encouraged to continue to focus on the health needs of vulnerable groups such as refugees.
