Announcement: Advertisement of the position of the commissioned person for equality & diversity.

Dear Colleagues,

According to the regulations of our university's constitution, the position of the commissioned person for Equality & Diversity is to be filled every three years by an election in the Senate. This is prepared by a search committee consisting of four voting members of the Senate and one member of the Presidential Board. The Senate has appointed the following members to the commission by election: Katja Frost, Claudia Hagedorn, Teresa Jakovlev and Dirk Wirth. The Presidium is represented by Dirk Jakobs. The position of the commissioned person for equality and diversity is to be advertised internally at the university. The current term of office ends on May 31 of this year. Therefore, the search committee asks all colleagues interested in this function to apply by May 12, 2023 (12:00) with a short letter of motivation including the presentation of their own ideas for the design of the elective office by e-mail to findungskommission_guv@spam protectuni-wh.de.

About the position: The Equality and Diversity Officer represents the interests of women, minorities and potentially disadvantaged groups who are members of or affiliated with the University. Together with the deputies and the responsible member of the Presidential Board, she works towards the inclusion of relevant aspects of equality and diversity in the fulfillment of the university's tasks, especially with regard to studies, teaching and research, as well as in development planning. For this purpose, the commissioned person may participate in the meetings of the Senate, the faculties, the appointment committees and other bodies with the right to propose motions and to speak; he or she shall be invited and informed in the same way as a member. The appointed person and the deputies are not subject to directives in the performance of their activities for equality and diversity and report to the responsible member of the Presidential Board. The function is designed as a 50% position.

Timing of the search process will be as follows:

  • 04/21/2023 - 05/12/2023 (12:00 noon): Application Period
  • May 17, 2023: Interviews with the search committee
  • June 06, 2023: Election of the commissioned person for P&L
  • Subsequently: Communication to the applicants and the university public.

 

We ask all applicants to keep the afternoon of May 17, 2023 free. On that day, the search committee will hold interviews with a shortlist of interested parties between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Invitations to the interviews will be sent via email on the afternoon of May 12, 2023.
