Mayor Lars König with Ralph Hiltrop (City of Witten)

Cordial invitation to the Witten Forum on Sustainability

Climate change, health, social cohesion, energy security, mobility and many other topics of sustainable development: Against this background, how can we make our city fit for the future? On December 9, everything will revolve around the many different aspects of sustainability in Witten's town hall.

Many ideas, many doers and impulses for the future

Interested Witten residents and all university employees can come Friday, December 9, 2022 from 3 p.m. to

  • take part in workshops on sustainable food supply, urban production & circular economy or new forms of community in the neighborhood,
  • find out about projects at the Market of Opportunities,
  • take away impulses from the lecture "Gemeinsam.Nachhaltig.Handeln" (Together.Sustainable.Action) or
  • get to know the sustainability strategy of their city.

The RatHausForum as a networking forum

The first Witten Sustainability Forum is a joint event organized by the city, Witten/Herdecke University and the Mittleres Ruhrgebiet Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The topics are correspondingly broad. All open levels of the town hall stand for one topic: The first floor with its "market of possibilities" is a place for meeting, exchange and information. On each of the three galleries, representatives of the university and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce present a sustainable topic.

GNK - Global Sustainable Community Witten - what is that?

GNK - Global Sustainable Community Witten - that was and is the overarching, strategic sustainability project of this city.

In 2021, the council of the city of Witten adopted the Witten Sustainability Strategy with a large political majority and the participation of many external stakeholders. With their commitment and their work, they were and are all an important part of the "Globally Sustainable Community of Witten".

In the Witten Sustainability Forum, some of the sustainability projects that have been put into practice will be presented.

Online registration required

The RatHausForum offers space for 150 guests. Using an online form, interested parties can not only secure their participation, but also select their desired workshop.
