Corona-Update

Dear members of the university community,

In order to counteract the further spread of the coronavirus and to make our contribution to pandemic containment, we are continually reviewing our current measures and regulations and adapting them according to the current situation. Major changes include: a recommendation to wear a mask in teaching events and the mandatory 2G rule for all events with citizen:in participation. We also have news again on booster vaccinations for staff and students on campus.

Urgent mask recommendation for all courses.

UW/H is committed to allowing face-to-face study as long as conditions permit. The ever-changing pandemic situation remains the central factor in action planning and health protection must be ensured to the best of our ability. Due to this, we strongly recommend that a mask be worn (again) in all courses with immediate effect. In many areas, this is already being implemented. We are pleased about this self-organization and personal responsibility. However, until further notice, this also means that courses in which the voluntary wearing of a mask is not possible (e.g. theater, choir or orchestra) can no longer take place.

2G regulation for all courses with external participation

In all courses offered by the university in which external persons can also participate, the 2G rule applies, which is obligatory in North Rhine-Westphalia in the public and leisure sectors. Here, an individual check of all participants must take place. Please plan the time for this accordingly in advance. The organizers of the respective areas have already been informed about this since the rule came into effect.

No events outside of teaching with participation of external persons

All our efforts are aimed at maintaining and securing teaching. Therefore, events that are not part of teaching may no longer be held with external participants in the future. Through this measure, we would like to contribute to the required reduction of contact within the required framework.

Boosters and vaccinations on campus

Even though approximately 99% of our students have been vaccinated or have recovered, we must keep in mind that the effect of vaccination wears off over time. This affects everyone who was vaccinated at least 5 months ago and especially our health faculty students and outpatient contact colleagues who were able to get vaccinated earlier in the year. Especially for them, boosting is therefore recommended now.

Last Saturday we were able to realize the first of the planned vaccination campaigns in close cooperation with our University Outpatient Clinic for Integrative Health Care, our company doctor, physicians and students of the UW/H and administer the first or second or booster vaccination to 250 people. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who made this campaign possible and who will also be on duty for the next one!

We are currently making every effort to be able to offer another, more timely date on which BionTech can be vaccinated again, which will then be available primarily to our students and young employees. Boosting will take place again next

Saturday, 04. December, 10 to 17 o'clock

Under the following link you can register now for the vaccination:

Vaccinations will again be administered in the red modular building. We are happy to be able to boost again this Saturday despite very tight vaccine availability. The vaccine this time is from MODERNA which means that the vaccination is appropriate for university members due to the Stiko recommendation,

  • Who are over 30 years of age.
  • Whose second vaccination was at least 5 months ago or more.

Booster vaccination not only refreshes your protection against coronavirus, but strengthens it. It ensures a very high level of protection against severe and fatal courses of the disease and significantly reduces the viral load.

In the midst of the fourth wave of the pandemic, we anticipate many more changes and adjustments in the coming days, weeks and months for upcoming teaching, research, outpatient clinic and university duties as an employer. We will keep you updated on all important changes and developments and ask you to continue to support us with precaution, caution and responsibility.

Stay well!

Yours sincerely
