The campus has taken another step towards sustainability and energy efficiency: The hot water supply has been completely decentralized. From now on, it will be supplied as required via electric instantaneous water heaters and small storage tanks. This eliminates the previously necessary, energy-intensive hot water circuit.
Less gas, more efficiency
With the changeover, the gas boiler can be switched off completely for the first time after the heating period. It is not planned to put it back into operation until next winter - probably only in conjunction with the planned heat pump.
Small adjustments in everyday life
As part of the changeover, temperatures in particular will change: in many kitchenettes and in the barrier-free WC facilities, the water will continue to be sufficiently warm, but will no longer be as hot as before. The dishwashers in the tea kitchens will remain available.
The new solution significantly reduces the use of fossil fuels. In this way, we are making a further contribution to more sustainable campus operations.
