The Hochschulwerk (HSW) will take over the venue previously known as "Unikat" at Bahnhofstrasse 63 from October 1. The meeting place will be called "B63" in the future. After five years under the leadership of Unikat e.V., the diverse range of events will then be expanded even further, creating a place of encounter, learning, art and culture for all university members and Witten citizens, where everyone feels welcome.

In addition to already established events created by the Unikat team, the HSW would like to expand the program to include topics such as sports and sustainability and continue to bring life to Witten's city center together with various initiatives, associations and stakeholders.

The Unikat will be involved in this process of reorientation in close cooperation. The operation of the "Kitten", the pub in the same building, will remain with the Unikat. The ideal concept of the Unikat remains the same: everyone can continue to look forward to MDMs, beer evenings and much more here.

Based on the visions of the Unikat, work is being done diligently to develop a utilization concept for the "B63". The first milestone for this will be laid in the form of the triple jump workshop from December 4 - 6, 2023. With various cooperation partners:inside and stakeholders, in these three days with the accompaniment of the interdisciplinary office for architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning "quartier vier" will be developed concretely, how the large area in the "B63" can look and be used in the future. Some form of student participation is also planned.
