Whether commuting to the university, heading to the train station, or running errands in the city—staff and students at Witten/Herdecke University can once again take advantage of attractive rates through the metropolradruhr bike-sharing service, which is now operated by Donkey Republic.
The new orange 7-speed bikes are available for rent at the UW/H campuses— Alfred-Herrhausen-Straße 48 and Stockumer Straße 12 —as well as at Witten Central Station.
Your benefits at a glance
- 60 free minutes per rental for staff and students
- After that, Donkey Republic’s “Just Ride” rate applies (1 euro per 60 minutes)
- The discounted rates apply throughout the entire Donkey Republic network
- Bikes can be rented across city boundaries and returned at any station in the metropolradruhr area
Here’s how it works
Rentals are made through the Donkey Republic app:
- Install the app and create an account using your @uni-wh.de email address.
- Under “Become a Member,” select the appropriate plan for employees or students.
- Verify your email address and set up a payment method (you’ll only be charged if the rental lasts longer than 60 minutes).
- Unlock the bike and ride off.
