Award for Innovative and Outstanding Teaching

Witten/Herdecke University hereby announces its award for innovative and outstanding teaching. The prize is endowed with 2500 €.

The nomination is made by the students of Witten/Herdecke University. All teachers of the UW/H can be nominated, who have offered events in the period WS 2021/22 and SS 2022 either alone or in a team in independent conception.

Prospective Teaching Award for "Education for Sustainable Development

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) empowers students who want to face the challenges of (non-)sustainable development today and in the future. The goal of a university ESD is to empower students through scientific and ethical education to understand and evaluate sustainability challenges and to find and test possibilities for change and action.

At Witten/Herdecke University, there are some courses that deal with topics of sustainable development or promote students' competencies in the sense of education for sustainable development (ESD) in innovative teaching formats (keyword "Witten didactics"). This offer should be made visible and expanded in the future in order to do justice to the social necessity of sustainable development and to ideally prepare students for the central challenges of the future. Therefore, the University of Witten/Herdecke hereby announces its ESD Teaching Award to honor innovative and outstanding teaching concepts related to ESD. The prize is endowed with 2500€.
