The Public Climate School (PCS) brings climate education to schools, universities and society. Its aim is to create awareness and knowledge about the outstanding importance of the climate crisis for a future worth living on this earth and to make climate education possible for everyone. The programme consists of a large number of local and nationwide events, which are co-organised by scientists, experts, students and teachers.
As part of the Public Climate School, many lecturers at colleges and universities throughout Germany will once again devote themselves to education for sustainable development in the winter semester of 2022/23 from 7-11 November 2022. The UW/H is also taking part again.
We therefore ask all lecturers to make a reference to the social-ecological crises in their courses during this week. In order to achieve nationwide visibility for your course and the UW/H, these events can also be added to the local Public Climate School programme (as was the case with the last Public Climate School, for example). It is of course up to you whether and in what form you adapt your courses. Everything is possible, from a critical question that stimulates an entertaining discussion to a complete adaptation of the lecture and co-design of the digital programme. We would like to draw the attention of lecturers with few thematic points of contact to the idea of 2slides 4future; alternatively, you can also ask students this week to discuss with you the question of which aspects of your course address the social-ecological crises of our time.
For further questions (also beyond the PCS), please feel free to contact the Sustainability Networking Office of the UW/H (nachhaltigkeit@ uni-wh.de) or the nationwide Public Climate School team (info@ publicclimateschool.de).
