Research Day of the Faculty of Health 2025
"Recognizing and promoting young talent"
This is how Prof. Dr. Florian Kreppel, Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Health, describes one of the main objectives of the Research Day at the Faculty of Health. The annual event was again very well attended and the program was packed: there were twelve lectures by young scientists, thesis corners and poster presentations as well as six lectures on the main topic "What can we learn from bench to bed - cancer research at the UW/H". This year was the first time there was a focus topic. This is to be continued next year, and suggestions for topics are already welcome.
The day serves as a platform to publicize a high-quality and representative cross-section of the faculty's research activities. Scientists at all career levels are not only able to gather valuable ideas for their work, the program also offers plenty of time to get to know each other, both academically and personally.
The afternoon began with the official farewell to Prof. Dr. Markus Heiss, former holder of the Chair of Surgery I and Director of the Clinic for Visceral, Vascular and Transplant Surgery at Cologne-Merheim Hospital. Prof. Dr. Stefan Zimmer, Dean of the Faculty of Health, gave the laudatory speech. Further highlights were the award ceremonies for young scientists. The event ended on a cozy note with soda, wine and cheese.
