On the initiative of Dr. Beate Stock-Schröer and with the support of Prof. Florian Kreppel, the first interdisciplinary doctoral student meeting at UW/H is taking place. The meeting gives doctoral students from different disciplines the opportunity to present and discuss their doctoral projects with each other. The focus is on networking. The doctoral students can exchange ideas and learn how to present their work/topic to colleagues from other disciplines.
Six doctoral students from the various departments present the status of their work in detail and can take away suggestions from the plenary discussion for their further work. This is expressly not a practice event for your own defense, but an offer for those who are interested in interdisciplinary exchange.
The first doctoral student meeting is a pilot project. At the end of the event, there will be a detailed evaluation to collect ideas and wishes from the participants for the further development of this format. What does such an event need to offer in order for the exchange between doctoral students to be fruitful? What needs do the doctoral students have?
