71 lovingly wrapped gifts have been handed in for the Ruhrtal Engel Christmas campaign!
Since 2018, the team at the UW/H information/post office has been organizing participation in the Christmas campaign for the non-profit association Ruhrtal Engel in Witten. The association supports children and young people from low-income families in particular. The aim of the campaign is to give them a special treat at Christmas and fill the space under the Christmas tree.
Every year at the beginning of December, a wish list is displayed in the information/post office. Every member of the university can choose and fulfill a wish - from board games to cuddly toys to clothes, everything is included. Within a week, all the wishes had been granted to individuals or groups.
On December 10, the "mountain of presents" will be handed over to Ruhrtal Engel e.V. in time for Christmas. "We would like to thank everyone who took part and hope that we will receive such great support again next year," said Katja Löhmann, Elona Melcher and Anke Teichmann from the UW/H information/post office and trainee Hanna Hölscher.
Background information:
Die Ruhrtal Engel is committed to providing low-income children and young people in particular with the opportunity to eat a balanced, healthy and free diet. To this end, they run a lunchtime table with homework supervision and games for children from socially disadvantaged families on their premises in Annenstraße from Monday to Friday.
