Introduction of the new UWE staff desktop on February 9, 2026

The new UWE layout was successfully introduced for students in June 2024. Since then, students have been using the modern interfaces in many applications.

Until now, employees have continued to work in their familiar UWE environment. The software manufacturer is now making extensive adjustments so that UWE will also appear in a partially new design for employees at the beginning of 2026.

What exactly does this mean?

UWE is getting a new "face", so to speak.

Students, applicants and anonymous users are already using the new desktop. Now the interface in UWE will also change for all employees, but the functionalities will remain the same with an adapted user interface and will not change.

What's new?

  • UWE will be more modern, tidier and more mobile.
  • In future, you will find all applications on one page, making them easier to access.
  • Favorites can be set up for frequently used applications.
  • Some views adapt to the end device, such as the login and start screen.

 

The focus is therefore on a modern, user-friendly design and at the same time a switch to modern technologies. We are starting with the home page. The individual applications will then be adapted step by step.

When will the changeover take place?

The new desktop will be mandatory for all user groups (students, staff, applicants, anonymous users) on February 9, 2026. The date was chosen in consideration of peak phases in teaching and examinations, but is also tied to the manufacturer's specifications.

Do you have to do anything during the changeover?

No. The changeover is automatic.

We recommend that you allow some time for the start date of the new staff desktop to set up your personal start page according to your needs.

The welcome presentation will give you a first impression of the new staff desktop.

Information events and open question and answer sessions for employees

These events are aimed at all staff and teaching staff who work with UWE and focus on how the start page works and how to set it up. The information events are accompanied by department-specific training courses.

Online information events

From November 2025, information events on the new design and the adapted user guidance were offered so that you could familiarize yourself with the new interface and menu navigation at an early stage.

The last information event will take place on February 4, 2026, 12:00 - 12:30. You can attend this without registering via ZOOM. The ZOOM links and registration details can be found on the intranet.

Online question and answer sessions

In addition, there will be online Q&A sessions with the UWE team during the week of the changeover, where you can ask your questions. You can take part in the sessions without registering via ZOOM. The ZOOM links and registration details can be found on the intranet.

Online help

At the same time, we are working on a new online help for employees with updated content, which will be made available on the intranet.
