In the University Development Plan (HEP), Witten/Herdecke University describes its strategies for the coming years. Goals and measures are recorded in it in order to be able to conduct a transparent discussion on the strategic development of the university and to make it fit for the future.

Evaluation of the University Development Plan 2022/23

The current University Development Plan 2022/23 was valid until the end of June 2023. Alongside the mission statement, it is a central part of the strategy process that has begun. Based on the experience of the first two years, it was optimized and now evaluated for the first time as planned. The results of the evaluation were presented to the Senate; they are summarized in a report and an evaluation table and can be found on the intranet page on the mission statement, claim and university development plan.

The report outlines the key points of the evaluation - divided into the four areas of University, Faculty of Business and Society, Faculty of Health and WittenLab. The members of the Coordination Conference prepared it with the help of a specially developed evaluation tool. In addition, the evaluation table shows the implementation status of the described measures - including possible challenges - at a glance.

It is important to us to inform all university members transparently about the process, to give them orientation about what has been achieved and to invite them to exchange views with us about goals, measures and problems. At this point, we would like to thank all colleagues who were involved in the evaluation for their intensive work, the dedicated discussions and their commitment - both in the development of the HEP and its evaluation as well as in the implementation of the ambitious goals!

Outlook for the Higher Education Development Plan 2023 to 2026

The findings from the evaluation will be incorporated into the subsequent Higher Education Development Plan and its progress measurement. Unlike in the past, it will be valid for a period of three years (mid-2023 to mid-2026); it will continue to be evaluated annually. The new university development plan will also be made available to you on the intranet in the coming weeks.
